Tanah Lot




















Tanah Lot is one of the most popular places of interest in Bali, is located on the coast of West Bali, at the village of Beraban in the Tabanan Regency.  It is said to be the work of revered 15th century Hindu priest Nirartha and forms an important element of Balinese spirtualism and mythology. The temple is built on the rock with 3 acre size and reachable in a few minute by walk, because it is just 20 meters from the coastal lip. This temple is very famous among tourist destinations in Bali with spectacular view of sunset. At some nooks of coral reef around Tanah Lot Temple there are holy tame snake in black and white color where according to the local society believe that it as a deity property and as the guard of the temple from the bad influence.

The temple Pura Tanah Lot, simple in its construction, is dramatic in its ocean-front location and is one of the main temples in the worship of Balinese gods.

This is an extremely popular tourist destination and the whole area is often very busy indeed, especially in the late afternoons, pre-sunset. The area between the car park (Rp 5,000 per vehicle) and the beach adjacent to the temple is a maze of souvenir shops selling just about every Balinese trinket imaginable.

Once you have fought your way through the souvenir vendors to the beach, you will see the magnificent temple perched on a rock just a few meters offshore. There is a footpath to the raised cliff area just to the south from where the views of the temple and the sunset behind it are outstanding. Photo-opportunities abound. Entry fee is Rp 10,000.


Getting There


Tanah Lot is about 45 minutes by car north west of the main southern tourist areas of Kuta, Legian and Seminyak and is en-route for those heading to West Bali. From Ubud it can reached in about 30 to 40 minutes by car.

Enjung Galuh Temple is located near Jero Kandang Temple to be exact at Enjung Galuh, “NJUNG” which is a rock that stick out in to the sea. Enjung Galuh Temple was built to pray for the Goddess of prosperity “Dewi Sri” as the power (Shakti) of “Dewa Wisnu” (God Manifestation as The Protector). The villagers pray requiring the fertility of the plants and rice-plant for the achievement of the prosperity in their life. The Ceremony of Enjung Galuh Temple is every Rabu (Wednesday) Umanis, Wara Medangsia according to Balinese calendar.

TAMAN AYUN TEMPLE

Taman Ayun Temple literally translates as “beautiful garden’ and is generally regarded as one of the most attractive temples of Bali. Taman Ayun is situated in a beautiful park with trees and ponds, near the village of Mengwi in the south of Bali at about 8 km southwest of Ubud and 18 km northwest of Denpasar.

The temple served as the family temple of the Mengwi dynasty, whose kingdom survived until the late 1800s. The temple was built by I Gusti Agung Anom, a founder of the Mengwi kingdom in 1934, and were skilfully and renovated in later years, giving its present appearance which tourists find so attractive and interesting. The temple is famous for its exquisite wooden merus, or pagoda-like shrines. The name itself means beautiful garden. It is built on a high tableland which is surrounded by ponds. This gives the effect from afar that the temple is floating on water.

 


ALAS KEDATON ( Monkey Forest )

Alas Kedaton is a small forest with a width of about 6-7ha located in the middle of rice fields. Alas Kedaton located in Tabanan regency. Total size Alas Kedaton include temples, forests and supporting facilities is about 12 ha. In this forest, there is a temple called Alas Kedaton Temple with a green natural environment and fresh air that create an atmosphere of calm and holy enough.

The monkeys in Alas Kedaton roam freely in the courtyard of the temple, so the atmosphere calm sometimes broken by a voice vote monkeys, who play around, stirring the food. Monkey in the base kedaton pretty tame.  The monkeys that live in this jungle jump up and down the walls of the temple, bathe in the trench or hang out in some trees. Monkeys act as guardians of the temple, always ready to welcome all visitors who visited this place. In addition to monkeys, bats and some other animals in the forest kedaton. can be seen by the tourists. At least 24 types of grove plant have been identified in Alas Kedaton.
